• 3 percent for material movements on established areas
• 4 percent for material movements in operating or dump azeas
Standard fixed cycle times obtained from the Caterpillar Performance Handbook were
utilized in determining total cycle times for each reclamation activity as summarized in Appendix
B, Productivity Documentation, or the Caterpillar Fleet Production and Cost Analysis program
was used to determine equipment productivities. A load factor was developed utilizing material
density and swell data and equipment volume and payload specifications from the Caterpillar
Performance Handbook. Al] calculations for haulage equipment productivity are included in
Appendix B, Productivity Documentation.
For wheel loader production, estimates are based on cycle times, bucket capacity, payload,
and correction factors from in Caterpillar Tractor Performance Handbook. Production estimates
for loaders aze presented in Appendix B, Productivity Documentation.
In order to determine accurate productivity values for all reclamation functions, base
productivities calculated as described above were adjusted for altitude as indicated by the
Caterpillar Performance Handbook and adjustments were made for a working utilization of 50
minutes per hour (0.83). This factor reflects the average to favorable conditions typical of a large-
scale reclamation project. The equipment productivity references utilized in the bonding cost
estimate calculations and all productivity calculations aze presented and summarized in Appendix
B, Productivity Documentation.
9.0 DETERMINATION OF EQUIPMENT HOUR AND FLEET REQUIREMENTS
Calculation of the equipment hours required to complete each reclamation function
involved dividing the material handling volumes as adjusted to reflect material characteristics by
the adjusted productivity rates. Because dozer requirements constitute the majority of the work
and time necessary to complete the overall reclamation project, total dozer hours were utilized as
the basis for determination of the project schedule. Atwo-shift per day, five-day per week
operating schedule was assumed for all reclamation functions, except facilities removal and
revegetation, which were scheduled on a single shift basis. Using this base working schedule and
the total required loader and truck hours, it was determined that seven D10N tracked dozers,
seven 777C haul trucks, three 992D loaders, eight 637E scrapers, three 14G motor graders, two
5,000 gallon water trucks and two overburden drills would be required to complete reclamation
work.
The proposed reclamation equipment fleet will optimize utilization of support and auxiliary
equipment and result in completion of reclamation in less than one year. Required hours for those
reclamation functions, which are sequenced to follow completion of loader/truck work, were
8 Revision Date: 5/8/03
Revision No. TR-56
