It is <br />formed in alluvium from reworked loess and sandstone <br />material. The surface layer is a loam. The upper <br />portion of the subsoil is a silty clay overlying a <br />silty clay loam. The substratum is a loam to sandy <br />loam. The Platner soils have slow permeability. The <br />available water holding capacity is high. Effective <br />rooting depth is 60 inches or more. Runoff is slow and <br />the erosion hazard due to wind is moderate. <br />58 ~ Rago silt loam <br />The Rago soil is a deep, well drained soil. It is <br />formed in loess. The surface layer is a silt loam. The <br />upper portion of the subsoil is a silty clay. The lower <br />part of the subsoil is a silty clay loam. The <br />substratum to a depth of 60 inches is a silt loam. The <br />Rago soils have slow permeability. The available <br />water holding capacity is high. Effective rooting <br />depth is 60 inches or more. Runoff is slow to ponded <br />and the erosion hazard due to wind is moderate. <br />
