9. Manzanola—Limon area <br /> Deep, nearly level to gently sloping, well drained soils that have <br /> clayey surface layers and subsoils; formed in calcareous alluvium. <br /> This soil area is, on the low terraces and fans along Fountain Creek, <br /> south of Colorado Springs, and Jimmy Camp Creek. It occupies about <br /> 2 percent of the survey area. About 40 percent of the area is the <br /> Manzanola soil, 35 percent Limon soil, and the remaining 25 percent <br /> is soils of minor extent. <br /> Both the Manzanola and Limon soils have a high potential for shrink— <br /> swell. The minor soils in this area are the somewhat excessively drained <br /> Terri ' <br /> Ellicott soil and the well—drained Heldt, Nunn, and Ustic Tai fluvents, <br /> loamy soils. <br /> A large portion of this soil area is used as irrigated cropland and <br /> pasture. Wildlife habitat, especially along the water areas, is an <br /> important use. Use is also made for livestock grazing and homesites. <br /> Je <br />
