7. Schamber—Razor area <br /> Deep and moderately deep, well drained soils that have gravelly and clayey <br /> subsoils on gently rolling to steep breaks. <br /> Areas of these soils are in narrow bands from Colorado Springs south <br /> to the Pueblo County line mostly on the west side of Fountain Creek. <br /> This soil area occupies about one percent of the survey area. About <br /> 40 percent of the area is Schamber soil, 30 percent Razor soil, and the <br /> remaining 30 -percent is soils of minor extent. <br /> The Schamber soil is usually in a higher position in the landscape <br /> than the Razor soil. The Schamber soil is deep and has gravelly loam <br /> surface layers and very gravelly loam and very gravelly sand underlying <br /> layers. The Razor soil has clay loam surface layers and heavy clay loam <br /> or clay subsoils over shale at depths of 20 to 40 inches. It has a <br /> high shrink—swell potential. <br /> The minor soils in this area are the somewhat excessively drained <br /> Chaseville soil and the well drained Heldt, Kim and Midway soils. <br /> This soil are% is used for grazing livestock, wildlife habitat, and <br /> military maneuvers and impact areas.
