_:
.., _-
The Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Act requires that anyone who
plans to conduct prospecting or mining operations in Colorado file
for a reclamation permit with the Mined Land Reclamation Board.
The Board was created in 1976 to carry out the mandates of the
Mined Land Reclamation Act. The seven member board, appointed by
the Governor, works with the staff of the Mined Land Reclamation
Division of the department of Natural Resources to enforce the Act.
The Act is designed to make sure that mining in the state is
conducted in an environmentally sound manner and that land is
reclaimed so that it can be used for other purposes once mining has
been completed. Copies of the Act and Rules may be purchased from
the Mined Land Reclamation Division, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215,
Denver, Colorado 80203.
