~~W Western
~ix~e Mobi/e
'~ tI ~ ~' ~~~~
~iAR 12 1990
March 6, 1990
Steven G. Renner
Mined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman Street
Room 215
Denver, Co 80203
MINED LAhC
._~ ..
ke: Temporary Cessation of Three Bells Pit M-79-191
Dear Mr. Renner:
Upon receiving the letter regarding this location, the
alternatives suggested by the board were seriously
considered; ie. a notice of temporary cessation or an
amendment indicating an intermittently active operation.
In an effort to clarify the situation at this location,
please consider the following.
Watem Mobll~lNorfh4rm
1800 North TaB Hili Rtl.
P.O. Box 2187
Fort Collins, Colorado 80522
303~482~7854
5344583 Metro
Fax 303-224-5564
Three Hells Pit:
Much the same as the Challenger Pit, demand for
material at this site has not been sufficient to
warrant continuous mining operations. Sales of the over
100,000 tons of inventory is continuing. Nearly 25,000
tons were sold from this location in 1989 and sales are
continuing in 1990.
Industrial and residential growth are proceeding towarrl
this location. It is believed that mining operations
will resume before or closely following inventory
depletion as a result of this growth. In the event that
inventories become totally depleted and there is not
sufficient demand to resume mining operations, this pit
would then qualify for temporary cessation or amenrhnent
to the permit allowing intermittent operation.
We hope this information clarifies the inactivity as
indicated by the annual report on this location.
We regret any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Should you have any questions, please contact us for
further information or clarification regarding this
matter.
Sincerely,
iii iiiiiiiiniu iii ~
999
Michael D.
