iii iiiiiniiiiii iii
999
Doc Date:1211112001
S~ E 2.04.9 Soil Resource Information
Soil resource information for the area which GEC Minerals, Inc.
plans to mine during the next five years is found on Map No. 11,
Soils. Specific soil types are cutlined and delineated on this
map. In addition, specific soil samples have also been obtained by
GEC Minerals and their locations are also located on the map. Soil
units have been mapped for this area by the U.S. Department of
Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service on the mine plan area.
The soils which are included within this area are used entirely for
grassland and woodland type activities.
GEC Minerals, Inc. has conducted soil sampling programs which took
place in July and October of 1979. Numerous soil samples were
taken to determine the top soil suitability for soils within the
• area which GEC Minerals, Inc. plans to mine. Results of this
sampling program and subsequent analyses are shown in Exhibits 14
and 15. Results of these two sampling programs indicate that two
types of soils are present on the mine area. These two types
include Pojoaque Variant-Sedillo complex and the Satanta sandy
loam.
Soil description and profile information have been obtained from
the Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service and are
listed in Exhibit 4. As also described in Exhibit 4, the potential
plant productivity of the soils in the proposed mining area is
climated to woodland and grassland.

•
2.04-17
