especially around the reservoir. The flat around the four corners, elevation 5450 on the
map, has excellent native vegetation including Stipa comata, Indian ricegrass, Salina
wildrye, and many native shrubs. Cheatgrass is marginal in the area with no notice of
Jointed goatgrass.
§2.02.2(2)(d): Period of intended exploration.
CAM would like to commence access road and site preparation work no later than
August 18, 2006. CAM estimates the project will be complete by October 30, 2006.
Reclamation will be preformed contemporaneously during drilling.
§2.02.2(2)(e): Right to enter surface lands not owned by the applicant.
Right to enter the BLM managed lands are presented in Appendix A. Right-of-Way
Grant COC-69290-01.
§2.02.2(2)(f): Practices to be followed to protect the environment from
adverse impacts as a result of the exploration activities.
No drill pads are required. There are no related structures or facilities. Existing roads
will be utilized to the extent possible. New and upgraded roads will be traveled with a
rubber track mounted drill rig. New road disturbance will be limited to the disturbance
caused by the track mounted drill rigs and ATV traffic. The track carrier is regulated to
3mph. Tracks are 13" wide heavily reinforced rubber tracks. The outside width of the
tracks is 6'-8". Steering is hydrostatic skid steer with zero turning radius. Ground
clearance is 16 inches throughout the carrier. Ground contact pressure less tools is 2.3
to 3.5 psi. The carrier can negotiate a 60% grade.
Drill sites 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 will be drilled on the edge of existing roads. New roads will be
traversed by the drill rig to access drill sites 6, 7, 8, 9 &10. The most direct route to drill
sites will be taken while minimizing damage to vegetation. The only disturbance to the
new roads will be that caused by the rubber track mounted drill rig and limited ATV use.
An existing road will be upgraded to access drill sites 11 and 12. The road to be
upgraded has numerous areas where erosion has made the road impassable. The task
to upgrade the road will involve repairing the eroded areas. The road will not be
widened and the road grade will not be changed. No surfacing will be placed on the
upgraded road. The upgraded road will not be reclaimed.
§2.02.2(2)(8): Methods to be used to conduct coal exploration and
reclamation.
Drilling will be by auger methods with samples obtained by split spoon methods. The
auger holes will be approximately 4.5 inches in diameter. The holes will range in depth
from 25 to 100 feet with an average depth of 50 feet.
