WILDLIFE, TERRESTRIAL (includes a finding on Standazd 3)
Affected Envirotunent: Section 9, which includes access and site locations for drill sites 6
through 10, is mapped as big game winter range. A small herd of pronghorn range across the
desert. Other common animals include coyotes, bobcats, badgers, and a variety of small
mammals and lizards.
Environmental Consequences/Mitigation: Direct impacts to terrestrial wildlife would be
minimal. Disturbance of big game (including deer, elk, and pronghorn) would be avoided by
adherence to the standazd timing ]imitation, with no activity allowed between December 1 and
May 1. This limitation would be applied only to the overland travel routes and drilling sites 6
through 10.
Finding on the Public Land Health Standazd for animal communities (partial, see also vegetation and
wildlife, Aquatic): Aland health assessment has not been conducted for this area, but incidental
observations suggest that it is meeting the standazd or meeting it with problems. Problem factors
in this aze include invasive weeds and OHV travel.
OTHER NON-CRITICAL ELEMENTS: For the following elements, those brought forward for
analysis will be formatted as shown above.
Non-Critical Element NA or Not Applicable or Applicable & Present and
Present Present, No T act Brou t Forward for Anal sis
Access JC
Cadastral Surve NA
Fire NA
Forest Management DPS
6-27-06
Geolo and Minerals BMF
H drolo /Water Ri is JS
Law Enforcement NA
Paleontolo BMF
Noise NA
Ran a Mana ement LBR
Real Authorizations TB
Recreation BNL
Socio-Economics NA
Trans ortation JC
Visual Resources
VISUAL RESOURCES
Affected Environment: This project is within an azea that is undesignated with regards to Visual
Resource Management (VRM) class. There aze numerous roads, oil and gas facilities, and
fences in the azea.
Environmental Consequences/Mitigation: The upgrading of a short section of existing access
road would be a small change in the landscape, repeating the line of other roads in the area. This
change would be mostly screened by vegetation and topography and would not be viewable from
any main access route or other key observation point.
