The ditch is also at a grade of approximately 2% which helps in the filtering
process. This has worked well over the past 8 years. Effluent quality is no different from any
undisturbed area in the vicinity. Once the topsoil stockpile is removed and the area meets post-
mine vegetation standards, the ditch can be reclaimed.
•
SAE #2 was located as apre-mine feature in the northern mineable portion of the Martin Property.
However, at the conclusion of reclamation backfilling for that portion of the Martin land, SAE #2 was
converted in a very small drainage basin with a completely incised sediment control pond. This
pond is named Pond 014. Therefore, SAE #2 no longer exists.
SAE's #3, #4 and #5 are located on the westernmost portion of the permit area where the terrain
is undulating and these areas cannot be made to drain to any sediment pond. The areas are 2.1
acres (SAE #3), 2.6 acres (SAE #4) and 0.9 acres (SAE#5), respectively. The alternative sediment
control measures for these areas consist of earthen berms of 2H:1 V sideslopes with a minimum
top height of 3.0 feet installed at the bottom of the exemption area to channel the runoff into a 30'
REVISED MARCH 2006
Attachment 2.05.3(3)-7-3
