To
achieve 12% cover would require the planting of a combination of 7,900 trees
and shrubs spaced accordingly. Trees will be planted in diamond shaped
clusters and spaced to 14 feet apart. Shrubs would be placed approximately
7 feet apart. The larger portion of the planting areas will be adjacent to
the water catchment areas or along the stream to these areas. The shrubs
and trees planting program will consist of 80 to 90% of those species
available through the Colorado State Forest Service. These will include
the small potted species (Bare root stock is not recommended). The
remaining 10 to 20% will be obtained through local nurseries, Colorado
State University, etc. These will consist of the same species but being
larger in size. The species listed in Exhibit 5 contains those trees and
shrubs suitable for planting in the environment that exists at Pikeview
Quarry.
Question #?_: What type of trees and shrubs will be used in the revegetation
s rim p~66 to 500 feet wide? Also state details as in A-1.
Comment: The 200 to 500 foot wide buffer zone between the industrial site
and the wildlife area will require a higher density of planting for visual
