7.2 %~ADS (4.03)
The construction and design of the haulroads was. discussed in
Section V. The roads have been designed using the best technology
currently available in order to afford environmental safeguards.
The haulroads will be reclaimed after they are no longer used for
hauling of coal or overburden. The haulroad loading into Section 22 will
be left to provide access to the southeastern portion of the surface
owners property. This has been approved in Permit Number 79-53.
The haulroads have been located on the stable slopes within the
area in order to decrease the amount of erosion associated with the
haulroad. The road grade will not exceed the criteria set forth in Faale
4.03(3). All cut slopes will not be steeper than 1v:1.5h, please refer
to the Mine Plan Map for road locations. Upon ca~letion of the cut the
• outslopes will be stabilized with a vegetative cover. The area will
be seeded with western wheatgrass (5 lbs PIS/ac), streambank wheatgrass,
(5 lbs PIS/ac), and pubescent wheatgrass (5 lbs PIS/ac). This rate will
be doubled if broadcast or hydroseeded.
Prior to construction of any road embankment all woody vegetation
will be grubbed and the topsoil salvaged and stored in a topsoil stockpile.
No embanlarents will be placed on side slopes exceeding 20 percent. During
construction of the embankment special attention will be kept to keeping
the fill free of organic material as is reasonably possible. likewise,
acid or toxic forming materials will not be used as fill material. The
embankment will be constructed in four foot lifts with adequate ooi~action
of the material resulting from the traversing of the fill by the haul
trucks and dozers. After the embankment has been constructed the outslopes
C~
VII-2
