2.04.7(1)(a)
• Except for the four wells (Lasater, Cargill, Watt and Rodgers)
mentioned previously, no potential effects are anticipated from
mining the "D" and "E" coal seams on other wells in the area.
Effects of mining the "D" and "E" coal seams will remove relative
pool quality water that would not be usable otherwise to wells
north of the mine permit area. Major effects on the usable ground-
water in the vicinity of the mining operation will be induced recharge
from the alluvial material into the coal seam. This will occur only in
those areas where coal seams directly underlay the base of the glacial
outwash alluvial material. This area is indicated on the isopach Map -
Alluvial Aquifer, 2.04.5-3. The induced recharge will occur directly
along the subcrop of each coal seam. Where the coal seam is covered
by a few ten's of feet of claystone and shale overburden, vertical
percolation of groundwater into the coal seam will be minimal.
Therefore, it is estimated that the induced recharge effect of mining
•

• REVISED Hay 8, 1981 60a j
.~-A .,..
