• The truck would be filled in three passes by the front-end loader at the
portal bench during that backfilling phase. Since the loader will be working in
conjunction with the tractor on an intermittent cycle, the truck loading costa can be
absorbed as dead time for the loader.
Grading
A limited amount of final surface shaping will be performed with a
conventional road grader. This will occur at the truck scale site since the tractor
or ac raper will be available at other sites where grading is necessary. A Cat
Model 14, or equivalent model, will be rented for this purpose. A scarifier equipped
unit will be used in order to prepare sub-soil surfaces for the application of
topsoil or SPGM.
It is expected that a grader can accomplish the required work at the scale
site in four hours, including [ravel time to and from the job site. Recently quoted
rates are $55.00 per hour. (Cost: 4 x $55/hr = $220.)
• Overburden Packi
This function will largely be performed as an adjunct to tractor and
scraper traffic during deposition of backfill material upon the portal bench, access
roads and sediment ponds. The grader can adequately accomplish necessary compaction
at the truck scale pit. The cost shown in Table RP-1 is a factor of 10% of the
backfilling coat of portal bench and access road, to account for slowdown and care to
ensure packing by the transport equipment.
Hydroseeding and hydromulching costa were obtained from verbal contractor
quotations for the supply and use of applicable equipment and equal $1,000 per acre.
Drill seeding and mulching costs were also obtained from the contractors'
verbal quotations, also costs $1,000 per acre.
Planting of containerized shrubs (10,800 units) cost is based upon ARCO
• Mt. Gunnison mine estimates and amounts to $11,000.
114v (Rev. 1-13-82)
