~"" ~
,;" ~' 1 United States Soil
is g - Department of Conservation
LJ Agriculture Service
•
October 11, 1985
Mr. Dan Keuscher
ACZ INC.
P.O. Box 774018
Steamboat Springs, CO 80477
Re: P1t. Harris Coal Loadout
Dear Dan:
Last week Darrell Schroeder, a Soil Scientist with the Soil
Conservation Service from Craig, Colorado, inventoried the Mt. Harris
Coal Loadout, requested by yourself.
• The results of his findings are as follows:
1) The soil material found on the site was classified as an
alluvial valley floor.
2) The soil, classified on the site, is of State Wide
Importance, but is not classified as Prime Farmland.
3) Darrell was unable to estimate the percentage of soil
disturbance in the past, due to the depth of coal on the
site. He thought a backhoe would be needed to dig soil
pits.
If you have any further questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
SOIL CONSERVATION SERVICE

Patrick R. Davey
District Conservationist
•
O
