Notes were <br />taken on all loci of cultural activity, except roads, recent oil <br />yells, pipelines and power lines, except where a site or locality <br />had been transected by one of these. A 3/8 inch reinforcing rod stake <br />with a yellow cap stamped with a temporary site number vas driven <br />into the center of SJA248 as a datum from which the site was mapped <br />using a Brunton compass on a tripod and pace3 distances. All <br />artifacts diagnostic of site function were collected. No datum <br />vas placed in SJA353, which vas mapped using estimated and paced <br />distances. do artifacts were collected from SJA353.
