i•
TAB 17
RECLAMATION SCHEDULE
Introduction
Tab 17 contains Lhe timetable for each major phase of [he reclamation plan and projected
reclamation schedules for the Hayden Gulch loadout facility permit area. Additional
information regarding the timing of reclamation activities may be found in the tabs which
discuss the various components of the reclamation plan. For example, seeding periods are
specifically discussed in Tab 20, Revegetation Plan.
The current limits of disturbance within the permit area are shown on Exhibit 17-1. No
additional land disturbances associated with operation of the loadout facility are
contemplated at this time. However, an additional 8.9 acres may be disturbed during
reclamation to accommodate grading activities. Operations are expected to commence June,
1993, and continue indefinitely, Because of the potential for new coal markets in the
future, the exact closing date and dates of final reclamation can not be predicted.
~• However, Hayden Gulch Terminal, Inc. will complete all reclamation activities in
accordance with the Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal
Mining in a contemporaneous manner following permanent closure of the facility.
Timing of Reclamation Activities
A generalized timetable of reclamation activities is shown in Figure 17-1. The timetable
depicts the sequence and timing of each major phase of reclamation. Precise specification
of the timing of each reclamation phase is not possible for the following reasons: 1)
variables such as manpower and equipment availability, weather conditions and season, and
the availability of materials and supplies affect the progress of facilities removal,
grading, topsoiling, and seeding in [he disturbance area; and 2) initiation of reclamation
activities is dependent upon when during the year operations are terminated, and aiming of
subsequent activities in the reclamation process are affected by when initial grading and
facilities removal is completed.
Site clearing and topsoil salvage operations have been competed Ithe coal handling
• facilities were constructed from Fall 1977 to 19791; however, additional topsoil salvage
will be required prior to final backfilling and gradrng as described in Tab 19.
