L:;HILtIT L
RLCLA;L4TI01] PLA?I ~~
This reclamation plan proposed by the applicant vi11 create an
area for private recreation and a varied ;;ildlife Habitat with 1 pond
of approximatel7 G'; acres. It is anticipated tHat the tree croc:th
left in the buffer zones on the west and south pit perir,.eters and
reve~etation plan will make for a desirable habitat of benefit to
;raterfocal and various species of ~,ildlife. The location is such that
• the visual effects on the surrounding com^tunity will be minimal.
Stripping and mining will be conducted so as to minimize surface
area disturbance. Stripping eaill begin on the south to open up a pit
area and provide anough overburden for construction of flood berms on
the west and south perimeters. As stated in the "Yining Plan", >;xhibit
II, topsoil will be segregated and stockpiled at strategic locations
on the flood control berms for replacement in reclamation. If topsoil
stockpiles are to be left for more than one growing season, an SCS
recommended vegetative cover caill be seeded to preserve the integrity
of the material.
Reclamation will follow extraction as closely as is practical and
will be an ongoing part of this operation. Present plans are to start
• backsloping after a large enoug}r area has been opened to alloca adequate
working room for equipment. This is projected to be within 1 - 1'; years.
Topsoil replacement should follow in 6 months or less. Past experience
indicates that the best results are accomplished faith fall seeding and
is proposed for this operation. Also SCS recommends: "The seeding
should be done in the fall of the year generally in the month of
November. If this is impractical then seeding can be done in April."
It is anticipated that the baclcslopes will be of such a nature as to
allow for drilling rather than broadcasting the seed mix.
