E:~71I];IT D
WILDLIFE
Attached are the conmeiits from tine Colorado Division of
1.7ildlife
Their concern about a nortlnuard progressing bend in the river
doing extensive erosion is a normal concern of any operator in this
type of operation. The applicant will tal:e normal protective measures
• Lo prevent the river from eroding into the pit area. This operation
will not create any mining pollution of tl~e river.
The request that excavated area "should be sloped at 3:1 as a
safety measure for humans using the area" has been addressed in the
Reclamation Plan, Exhibit E, and is already a requirement of the AII.R13.
The applicant suggests that the SCS is the appropriate body to
recommend reseeding mixtures, and their recommended seed mix gill be
used. The SCS recommends "The seeding should be done in the fall of
the year generally in November. If this is impractical then seeding
can be done in April." Again, SCS is the appropriate body to make
these recommendations. The applicant plans on fall seeding as recommended
by t'.ie SCS as opposed to the Division of ldildlife recommendation to
• plant "in the 6 weeks period before April 1."
