171
• Site: 5MF320 (Fig. 4).
site Type: Open lithic.
Loca cion: SW';S E';, Sec. 5, Tan, R90w; UTM Zone 13, E2II5,950m., N4,458,550m.
Description: SMF320 is a lithic scatter located in a saddle at the head-
waters of Deep Rock Gulch, facing to the north and northwest. The nearest
water is in Deep Rock Gulch, 190 m. to the northeast. Elevation at the site
is 8400 ft. (2,560 m.). The vegetation includes sagebrush, Gamble's oak,
rabbitbrush, serviceberry, and aspen.
Artifactual materials were limited to a handfull of flakes and three
utilized flakes in an indeterminate area. The flakes were found in a road
cut, but none were found elsewhere, making it difficult to determine the
actual areal extent of the site. The site is disturbed by the road cut, but
• no other disturbance is apparent.
Diagnostic Artifacts: None.
evaluation: 5MF320 has no potential for yielding information important to
prehistory and should not be nominated to the NRHP. No further action is re-
quired with regard to this site.
