164
• site: ~ 5RT25 (Figs 2, 40).
Site Type: Open architectural.
Location: NW';NW!;, Sec. 9, TSn, R87w; UTM Zone 13, E317,810m., N4,475,200m.
Description: 5RT25 is an historic architectural site located at the base
of a gently sloping, north-trending ridge, on the west-facing side. The
site is adjacent to a seasonal drainage that flows into the present Nofstger-
Ziegler Reservoir, but the original course of the drainage leads to Scotch-
mans Gulch. The elevation is 6750 ft. (2,057 m.). Vegetation on the site
includes sagebrush, cottonwood, Gamble's oak, and grasses. Nine structural
features are visible, covering an area 60 by 90 m.
The structures include a dwelling, outbuildings, a sheep corral, and
a stock tank. Cultural debris consists of a stove, wire, sheet metal roof-
ing, tin cans>and other assorted trash. The structures are deteriorating,
and some recent use as a sheep loading station is apparent, as it was in use
at the time the site was recorded.
Diagnostic Artifacts: None.
svaluation: Evaluation of the historic significance of 5RT25 should be
made by a trained Colorado historian with proper archival evidence at
hand. At present, we are not recommending it for nomination to the NRHP.
