• Evaluation: The eroded condition of 5RT22 no doubt contributed to its
rather large artifactual yield. However, enough portions of the site re-
main undisturbed to clearly indicate that the site has considerable poten-
tial for yielding information important to the prehistory of the region,
if not the state. The information present at 5RT22 will help to clarify
the nature of the Early Middle Prehistoric Period's regional counterpart
in the Yampa basin. Sites of this antiquity are exceptionally rare in the
present inventory of the region's cultural resourcE•s. On tF~ese grounds
we feel thoroughly justified in recommending 5RT22 for nomination to the
NRHP.
