iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
sss
Doc Date:1 211 112 0 01
site: 5RT16 (Figs 2, 30, 31).
site Type: Open architectural.
150
Location: SW'.;NW'-;, Sec. 9, T5n, R81w; UTM Zone 13, E316,660m. N4,475,120m.
Description: 5RT16 consists of eight historic architectural features lo-
cated on a gentle north slope, 300 m. south of the Nofstger-Ziegler Reser-
voir. The site covers a total of 350 by 200 m. Elevation at the site is
6870 ft. (2,094 m.). The vegetation includes sage, grasses, and herba-
ceous growth. Architectural features present include a stable, dwellings,
a possible barn, outbuildings, and a corral. The structures were built
using a variety of techniques, ranging from ax-cut and notched logs to
saw-cut logs and milled lumber. Cultural materials observed include cof-
fee cans, cardboard tobacco containers, glass jars, and other trash.
The site is deteriorating from exposure, and there is visible evi-
\~
dente that recent hunters have been on the site. Otherwise, the site is
undisturbed.
Diagnostic Artifacts: NOne⢠
evaluation: Consideration of a nomination of this site to the NRHP should
await analysis of archival material by a trained historian. The site should
also be investigated by a specialist in architectural history to evaluate
the site's potential as an example of the architectural evolution in the
region.
