12a <br /> <br />• site: 5RT27 (Figs 1, 20). <br /> site Type: Open camp, <br />Location: SE'-;NW';, Sec. 27, T5n, R86w; UTM Zone 13, E328,725m., N4,469,860m. <br />Description: 5RT27 is an open camp consisting of a sparse scatter of flakes <br />and several metate fragments, covering an area of 2,700 sq. m. in a plowed <br />field. The site elevation is 6888 ft. (2,099 m.). The nearest water, an <br />unnamed drainage that flows into Foidel Creek, is 200 m. to the east. Vege- <br />tation on the site consists of pasture grass and volunteer wheat. The site <br />lies on a gentle north slope and is exposed to the north, east, and west <br />with slight protection to the south. Cultural materials visible were <br />limited to flakes and three metates, two complete and one fragmented. No <br />visible concentrations of flakes were observed, and no features were re- <br />corded. The site has been heavily disturbed by agricultural activities, <br />• as it has been plowed to a depth of 8 in. or more. 5RT29 and 5RT30 lie <br />several hundred meters to the west of the site, and 5RT31 is roughly 800 m. <br />to the northeast. <br />Diagnostic .artifacts: Two Type IB metates, one Tyoe IIB metate fragment, <br />and one Type II core. <br />evaluation: Tliis site has been extensively disturbed by cultivation and <br />has no potential for yielding information important to prehistory. We <br />recor~mend that 5RT27 not be nominated to the NRHP. No further action is <br />required. <br /> <br />
