~nr~~.~~a <br />• 2.0 INTRODL'~CTTON <br />The purpose of this study was to determine if the Yampa <br />River gains or loses substantial flow in the vicinity of the area <br />known as Big Bottom near Craig, Colorado. The Utah International, <br />Inc. Trapper Mine is located in the Big Bottom Syncline ground- <br />water catchment basin. It is possible that a portion of the <br />ground water in this basin is discharged to the Yampa River in <br />the vicinity of Big Bottom. If su, contaminants from any future <br />wastes placed in r_he Trapper Mine that enter ground-caater sys- <br />tems could emerge with ground-water flow into the river and thus <br />have an effect on the water quality of the river.
