Hopefully, this loss will be temporary, assuming
revcget.ation is accomplished successfully, To insure successful
rec7am,gtSon, the Division recouuliends that top soil be stockpiled as
described and planted to avoid its loss before it is needed for
revcgctation purposes. Revegetation will be ,t be accomplished if
done concurrent, to mining, eg. every 2-3 acres. Mined slopes
should he regraded to 3:1 or flatter. Where henc;Yting is necessary,
shrulas and trees, in addition to grass plantings is recommended to
maintain vegetative diversity and provide aesthetic relief. We
aupporL the wetland revegetation plan as described,
Staging of vehicles and storage. of chemicals, petroleum products,
etc• will result in the least damage to habitat iP relegated to one
designated area, and hopefully, far from the wetland.
Please call. me at 719-473-2945, ext.2'l4, if you wish to further
discuss Division recommendatiotls.
Sincerely ~prove~~
:'
J/
ruce Gofox• o a d si e
Sr. Wildli Biologist Regional Mansger
Mar 5 ,'_a 15
•
DEPAFIMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES.
