3.0 RESULTS
The reclaimed area which is the subject of this bond release application was revegetated prior to
1991 and its subsequent history has been documented in the approved reclamation plan and annual
reports submitted to the DMG over the years and is not presented again in this document. To facllftate an
evaluation of revegetation success, comparison has been made with parameters from the approved
reference area and / or standards as appropriate.
Vegetation data colleded utilizing accepted scient'rfic means and statistical analyses from both the
reclaimed area (Plates 1 - 8) as well as that collected from the extended reference area (Plates 9 & 10)
during 2000 have been organized, summarized, and presented on a variety of tables and charts in
Appendix TC. Plates 1 - 10 are presented in Appendix TC as well.
3.1 General
Review of the summary data and comparisons presented on Table RS 1 indicates that the
Applicant's revegetation efforts for the North Thompson Creek Mines have passed all applicable
comparisons in accordance with Rule 3.03. Release of Performance Bonds as well as those of the
promulgated Vegetation Guidelines (April 18. 1995). Therefore. the North Thompson Creek Mines meets
all of the vegetation criteria for release of Phase II bonds and Phase III bonds for the first year (2000) of
the two-year evaluation.
3.2 Grtwnd Cover
Evaluation of the ground cover variable in accordance wRh Rules 3.03 and 4.15 utilizing the
approved testing protocols detailed above results in a positive finding regarding the 2000 sampling data
sets. In this regard, review of the first portion of Table RS 1 indicates that the mean perennial ground
cover of the reclaimed area substantially exceeds 90% of the analogous value for the extended reference
area in 2000. The revegetated area mean (45.56% cover) is far greater than 90% of the value of the
extended reference area (27.12%). This Tending is validated statistically using the one-sample reverse
null hypothesis test. The derision rules for this test were:
If C s t l,a ~., d,.l, conclude failure to meet the performance standard, and
If Y > t I,q;~_,,, I, conclude that the performance standard was met (for a = 0.1 ).
Q:IB®dB Q~1®S .97[16p, wc.
