Leopold who owns certain real property
in Section 23, 19T3S, R72W, Gilpin County, Colorado, which is
located adjacent to the land proposed for the mining quarry by Mr.
and Mrs. Wolf in the above-referenced permit application. Enclosed
is a letter of concern and objection submitted by Dr. Leopold.
While I have not reviewed the permit application submitted by the
Wolf's in detail, nor any supporting documentation, it appears to
me that it presents significant compliance issues with respect to
the Clean Water Act and other environmental laws. Given the very
sensitive nature of the environment in which this mining operation
is proposed and the invasive nature of the proposed mining
operation, we would ask that the Division thoroughly review this
application with respect to its full compliance with all federal
and state environmental laws and insure that those laws are
implemented and enforced.
Thank you very much for your cooperation and assistance in
this matter.
S in~ you~' 1 ""1
Bradley D.
