~~~
NONTECHNICAL SOILS DESCRIPTION REPORT
Barnhart
Soil name and description
l
~~
Minnequa loam, 1 to 3 percent slopes
Harvey-Stoneham foams, 0 to 3 percent slopes
HARVEY-STONEHAM LOAMS, 0 TO 3%--The Harvey soil has a
surface layer, about 5 inches thick, that is
grayish-brown loam. The loam subsoil, about 11 inches
thick, is brown to pale brown. The material below a
depth of 16 inches is very pale brown loam that grades
to sandy loam. The Stoneham soil has a surface layer,
about 5 inches thick, that is light brownish-gray loam.
It has a sandy clay loam subsoil about 7 inches thick
and below a depth of 12 inches is pale- brown and light
yellowish-brown, moderately alkaline loam and sandy
f clay loam. This is a good soil for range. The porous
surface layer takes water well, and there is high
water-holding capacity in the subsoil. There is a high
hazard of sheet erosion in overgrazed areas.
Stock-water pits in this soil may need sealing. -----
VIe-1 Loamy Plains
I
