Rule 4.05 <br />I• <br />L J <br /> <br />Sediment Ponds <br />During operations, sediment ponds were utilized to neat drainage from all affected azeas within the mine <br />permit boundary. Ponds and diversion stmcmres were designed to control runoff from a 10-yeaz, <br />24-hour storm event. Water treatment consisted of simple settling and controlled release of the water. <br />Discharges from the ponds were subject to NPDES permit limitations as set forth below. <br />Parameter <br />Iron, total (mg/1) <br />Manganese, total (mg/I) <br />Total Suspended Solids (mg/1) <br />pH (std. units) <br />7.0 3.5 <br />4.0 2.0 <br />45.0 pH 30 <br />between 6.0 and 9.0 <br />Pond discharges during operations did not exceed these limits. Current monitoring requirements for <br />discharges from the permanent impoundments aze: <br />Parameter Frequency <br />Measurement <br />Settleable Solids (mg/1) Monthly <br />Total Dissolved Solids (mg/1) Quarterly <br />Oil and Grease (mg/1) Monthly <br />Flow (mgd) Monthly <br /> Monthly <br />Discharges from the sediment ponds are intermittent in nature and varying in magnitude according to <br />snow melt storm events or subsurface inflows. <br />Monitoring of surface and ground water will continue as described above until such time as the MLRD <br />approves a seduction or deletion in the monitoring program. All monitoring and sampling data will be <br />maintained at the Montgomery Watson Harza office at 1475 Pine Grove Road in Steamboat Springs, CO <br />as required by Rule 4.05.13(4).
