iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Fish Creek Property -Temporary Well Abandonment Program
During the fall of 1987 all groundwater wells on the Fish Creek property were temporarily
abandoned. Those wells that were flowing or had water neaz the top of the casing were plugged
using Bazoid "Holeplug'". (Included for your information is a specification sheet on "Holeplug").
To accomplish the plugging, a rubber plug was inserted into the casing and pushed down to a depth
of approximately 30 feet below the top of the casing. Three-quarter inch "Holeplug" was then
added until the casing was filled to the top. The cap was then replaced. The wells were checked at
a later date and all were found to be sealed. The wells will be checked again in the spring to make
sure they have remained sealed. If any are still leaking, the rubber plug will be moved to a lower
depth and additional "Holeplug" added. Using this system insures that water inside the casing is
held below that level where freezing occurs. This eliminates the problem associated with water
freezing within the casing during the winter resulting in splitting of the casing. This system of
temporary abandonment will allow for simple reactivation of the wells at some future date if
necessary. All well sites and other drill hole locations have been reclaimed, inspected and cleazed
by the MLRB. During the drilling operations no roads were constructed that required reclamation
work.
A list of all wells drilled in 1979 (FBR-1 thru 10 and 88-CD-79) and 1983 (FBR-11 thru 15) and
whether they were plugged in 1987 follows:
FBR-1, 2,3,4,5 - Water level in all wells in excess of 80 feet below top of
casing - no plugging necessary.
FBR-6,7,8,9,10 - All wells either flowing or water very near top of casing -all
plugged.
FBR-11A, 11B, 11C - All wells flowing -all plugged to 30 feet below top of
casing.
FBR-12A - Well flowing -plugged to 30 feet below top of casing.
FBR-12B - Water eight feet below top of casing- plugged to 30 feet
below top of casing.
FBR-13 - Water 10 feet below top of casing -plugged to 30 feet
below top of casing.
FBR-14 - Well flowing -plugged to 30 feet below top of casing.
FBR-15A - Well flowing -plugged to 30 feet below top of casing.
FBR-15B - Well flowing -plugged to 30 feet below top of casing.
