The results of the CRSP3 runs for the Section running through the constructed gap are
• presented in Attachment 1. As can be seen in the rockfall simulation results for file
SCJ_GAP, no rocks are expected to pass point 11 which corresponds to the outside
(furthest from cliff) edge of the constructed berm. The results, for a case incorporating
a 10 tt high rock-wall constructed at the inner edge of the berm (file SCJ_GAPB)
indicate that no rocks pass this barrier.
Studv References:
SubTerra, Inc., 1994. Rockfall Hazard Assessment and Selection of Hazard Control
and Mitigation Measures. Prepared for Twentymile Coal Company, Oak Creek,
Colorado, October 7, 1994.
Conclusions: The results of the rockfall simulation indicate that it is unlikely that rocks
falling from the cliff above section J will reach the new, re-located portion of Routt
County Road No. 27. However, it is prudent to construct a barrier that screens off the
open area created. CRSP3 simulations indicate that a nominally 10-ft high wall,
constructed using rocks that are available adjacent to the work, will suffice.
Please contact me at (206)-827-8003 if you have any questions.
• Best Re ards
C ~;~..'
Chris D.
