MINING PLAN • • EXHIBIT D IcoNr )
The five types of natural soils on the parcel are designated
as Units EBF, NuD, PmE, StE and Wo. Please refer to MAP EXHIBITI-1
for the location of the soils on the permit area. More detail on
the description and engineering qualities for these soils can be
found starting on page 28 in this application.
The EBF - Eutroboralfs, steep soil is described as a mapping
unit consisting of mainly vertical rock outcrops,
consisting of deep canyon like drainages. Very little
soil existing on this soil mapping unit and it covers
13.608 of the permit area. We find that what little soil
is found in this Unit consists of shallow pockets around
trees or shallow depressions.
The NuD -Nunn clay loam, 5 to 9 percent slope is described as a
deep well drained soil, grayish-brown clay loam averaging
6 inches deep in the county. It covers 29.128 of the
total permit area making it the most prevalent soil type
on the site. This area is covered by part of the PRE-LAW
DISTURBANCE area shown in M.L.R.B. permit number M-77-326
so the topsoil and overburden has been removed on a
portion of the site. We suspect that this is the
material residing in the soil piles along the north side
of Adience's existing permit.
The PmE -Penrose-Minnequa Complex, 1 to 15% slopes covers only
a small section of the mine site in the extreme northwest
part of the area. This Map Unit is described as a loamy
residuum weathered from limestone. it is a light
brownish-gray channery loam averaging 3 inches. on this
site it covers 0.408 of the total area. Very little of
this area will be disturbed during mining.
The StE - Stroupe extremely stony loam, 9 to 25% slopes soil
series is described as a moderately deep, well-drained
soil. This site is consistent with the soils description
in the SCS report, and as stated is located on mesas and
foothills around the site. The variation in depth is
closer to averaging 8 inches on our site, rather than the
20 to 40 inches noted in the report. This soil covers
approximately 13.148 of the mine site and covers part of
the area currently being mined.
8
