• <br />• <br />MINED LAND WILDLIFE STATFI4ENT/EVALUATION (Revised) <br />for limited impact and select regular mine applications <br />The following information pertaining to wildlife is provided for use by Mined <br />Land Recl:~mation Board in their consideration of a mining pezmit for: <br />Fillmore Pit/ sand and gravel ~• 24, T. 21S, R. 61W in Pueblo county <br />Name/Type and Location of Mine (Legal) <br />wildlife Species list: Cottontail rabbit,rnyote and assorted other small <br />manmals; dove, scaled quail, horned lark and other assorted small birds; <br />red-tailed hawk and other raptor species utilize trees found on eastern boundary; <br />numerous waterfowl species and amphibians are found in wetland on eastern <br />boundary. <br />EndangereLl/critical species/impacted: None known <br />Critical habitats/vegetative communities impacted: An extremely vital wetland <br />is adjac~it to the proposed area on the eastern boundary. This habitat is rather <br />unique for the shortgrass prairie environment that the pit is to be located. It <br />is identified on the map as a spring numbered 4399. <br />Assessment of impact: Mining of the entire 48 arsev will likley result in changes <br />to surfaa~ runoff. This will impact the wetland area if provisions are not in <br />place to ~~rotect the topography of the eastern boundary of the proposed pit area. <br />Displacement of waterfowl and birds of prey should be minimized if a buffer zone <br />is provided along the eastern boundary. <br />Mine Reclamation recommendations (include key species habitats for which <br />restoration is designed). <br />The natural drainage and resulting wetland from the spring along the eastern <br />boundary should not be disturbed. A buffer zone of 100 to 200 yards between <br />mining activities and the wetland should be maintained.
