Long
Divi,ion Duecbr
This letter is being written in response to the additional technical information supplied by your consultant regarding
the 112 Application Pemtit #Iv1-99-021, Stegner Farms Pit. on June 2~, 1999. Most of the outstanding concems Here
adequately addressed and require no further clarification. It should be pointed out that the design plans for the slum'
wall, Taft [-lilt ditch system, and possible groundwater drainage system, are all subject to review by the Division of
Minerals and Geology (DMG) and will require technical revisions to the permit to allow their future inclusion in the
reclamation plan. The only further clarification needed a[ this time regards the specifications for the pond lining
(which appear to be adequate, but are not specifically labeled as the Fond Iwng specifications on the dmvvings
submitted). the new plans for the onsire dminage system as they stand now, and the groundwater monitoring plan
must be submitted and approved by the Division. Please sutrmit a tna ~ describing the locations and depths of the
wells, a monitoring schedule for them, and an explanation of what w:aer level or events would lx considered a
trigger to initiate Ehe constmction of a drainage system to mitigate the mounding effect of high groundwater levels.
Please respond to this adequacy review prior to your current application decision due date of July 1. 1999, in order
for the Dn isien to consider approving this application. Be advised [}a[ this application may be deemed inadequate,
and your permit revision may be denied on July I, unless these adequacy review items are addressed to the
satisfaction of the Division. if you wish to request an extension in order to address these concerns, please contact the
Division in writing or by FAX. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact meat (303) 866-3567.
Sincerely,
~~~~~ .
Christina L. Kamnikar
Environmental Protection Specialist
Cc: Carl B.
