O'Connor
Reclamation Specialist
Mined Land Reclamation Division
COLORADO DEPARTh1ENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Mr. O'Connor:
(IL c ~ ~',4 ~ ~~ )rt4) (~~C
ti~,ISSii~6 I,t,F:-c,tt~-r1~ 1:
Enclosed with this letter please find three copies each of a map depicting
the new well field layout and a drawing depicting the new well completion
diagram. Also enclosed are three copies of our subsidence monitoring and rock
mechanics report. The modified well field layout involves one additional
production well to form three production cavities.;
~If mining were to be conducted
initially below this oil shale marker the cavity would, according to our
projections, attain a considerable width at the base prior to dissolving through
the oil shale. This would, in turn, result in a ultimate cavity width at the
top of the Boies Bed in excess of what can be reasonably expected to support the
cavity roof.
The reasons that three cavities are now proposed stems from a smaller
cavity volume _ '
1. Hense, in order"to maintain-the same pr=oduction rate
and two-year operational life, three cavities (in addition to the cavity
initiated during the bulk sampling project) will be required.
A Subsidiary of The Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Company
B19 TAUGHENBNUGH 6L1/O.
