With successful establishment, the above rate will give a stand of 25°lo smodh brome,
25% Timothy, 20% legume(s), and 10% of each of the remaining grass species. In areas
where the seed must be broadcast, ACA will double the rates.

2) Trees and shrubs native to the area could also be transplanted to the site to add
diversity. Adapted species would include lodgepole pine, aspen, big sagebrush, wild
rose, Kinnickinnick, common juniper shrub, and buffaloberry. These species will be
transplanted from the existing trees and shrubs on the site and relocated to the
reclamation areas as mining advances.
Time of Seedin
1) The suggested time of seeding is late fall. Late enough that seed will lie dormant through
the winter, and be ready for germination in the following spring.
2) Trees and shrubs seedlings should be planted in the spring before the seedlings break
dormancy.
Method of Seeding
1) A drill designed for grasses are best. It assures good seed placement. Drilling should be
done perpendicular to the slope. Seed should be placed about'/~ inch deep.
2) Drilling may be impractical on same areas. Seed can be broadcast by hand or with a
"cyclone" seeder at double the rates shown above. Seed should be raked in'/. to'/ inch
deep.
