Mr. James B. McArdle January 16, 1984
Senior Reclamation Specialist PROJECT N0. 119-831
Mined Land Reclamation Division
RE: LEHR PIT, WELD COUNTY DEPT. OF ENGINEERING
YOUR FILE N0. 83-213
A. EXHIBIT D - MINING PLAN
2, 3, & 4. (Continued)
this procedure, other than the initial topsoil stockpile area,
(± 0.2 Acre), no topsoil stockpiles will exist more than one
growing season. The inital stockpile will be located at the
Southeast corner of the site and graded and contoured with
maximum 4:1 slopes and planted to reduce soil erosion prohlems,
This stockpile will be used to replace the topsoil on the last
mined and working areas.
5. The County estimates 20,000 Tons/Year of material will be re-
moved from the site. Based on this removal rate and on esti-
mated yield of 200,000 CY, the estimated life of the pit would
be about 16 years. With an average mining depth of 10 feet,
the annual excavation area would be about 1.0 acre. The pre-
vious mined area (1.0 acre) would be the working area for a
total major disturbance area of 2.0 acres.
The access road will increase to a maximum of about 0.8 acre,
for maximum disturbance from the operation of about 3.0 acres.
B. EXHIBIT B - RECLAMATION PLAN
The amount of topsoil and the procedure for topsoil replace-
ment is outlined above. The Soil Conservation Service
recommendations will be followed for revegetation.
_?_.
