Colorado 80521 303 482 5600 '~~ RE: Portland Quarry Application 77-344 My letter of June 16, 1978 mentioned that additional information on the subject operation requested in the June 7, 1978 letter from Mr. Orell was being assembled. The following information is furnished in the order as outlined in the June 7, 1978 letter. I. Acreage of Affected Lands 1. Ideal's letter dated March 17, 1978 transmitted and ex- plained revisions to the original application. This letter mentions an increase in the estimated acreage to 1,588 acres (442 acres increase). The 1,588 acres were outlined in red and green on Map pcc-1387 and Exhibit B, Page 2. The increase includes the 210 acres designated as old concrete quarry, Exhibit B, Page 2, recently purchased land in the W/2 of Section 8 and land located north of the gas line in Section 9. The legal descriptions were revised to include the ad- ditional 442 acres as were all exhibits. 2. The concrete quarry supplied the old "Concrete" Cement Plant until its abandonment in 1924. n4ap Exhibit B, Page 2, shows Ideal property boundaries that fall within the limited map area. Ideal's considerable property ownership in the area extends north and south off this Page 2 map as well as eastward into Pueblo County. The limestone reserves in this area are the same deposit as described in Exhibit D, but with less overburden. 3. (i) The cement plant refuse dump areas have been customarily included as affected land as this material is deposited in worked out quarry areas at several ideal cement plants. As ex- plained in Exhibit E (a ), Page 2, this refuse will likely be deposited in the west Portland quarry in the future. MINED LAND RECLAMATION Colo. Dept. of Natural Resot!rc^s
