Revised 11/85 <br />C, <br />J <br />SUMMARY <br />Geographic Setting <br />Federal Coal Lease No. C-0117192 is located to the south and west of <br />Federal Coal Lease No. D-052501. That portion of Coal Lease No. <br />C-0117192 to be mined by Bear Coal Company can be found on the Coal <br />Ownership Map (Map 2). <br />Revised Boundary Description <br />The proposed permit addition is located within Section 17, T135, R90W <br />and the northern portion of Section 20, T13S, R90W of the Colorado 6th <br />principal meridian. The entire permit area is located in Gunnison <br />County, Colorado. <br />The first corner of the proposed permit addition begins at the corners <br />• of Sections 16, 17, 20, and 21, T13S, R90W, being point 1, first course <br />due south 300 feet; thence north 88° west 2,620 feet; thence north 81° <br />west 1,862 feet; thence north 12° west 2,210 feet; thence north 20° 20' <br />west 810 feet; thence north 2° 15' east 1,180 feet; thence south 87° 15' <br />east 2,680 feet; thence south 2° 45' west 4,180 feet; thence south 88° <br />east 2,620 feet to the point of beginning; and containing approximately <br />264 acres. The east and northern boundaries of the additional area <br />coincide with the west and southern boundaries of Federal Coal Lease <br />C-052501 currently included in the Bear Coal Company permit boundary. <br />Size and Configurations of Operations <br />The Bear Coal Company currently produces coal from Federal Coal Lease <br />No. D-052501. The coal mined by the Bear Coal Company is transported <br />from the underground workings through Bear No. 3 portals. All coal <br />mined on Federal Coal Lease No. C-0117192 will be transported through <br />• the existing Bear No. 3 portals to the existing surface facilities. No <br />new surface facilities or portals are planned. Mining Operations are <br />currently being conducted in the "C" Coal Seam. After the "C" Seam coal <br />-2- <br />
