Box 25486, DFC
Denver, Co. 80225
September 7, 1997
' RE: Request for exclusion of Preble's jumping mouse live-trapping survey.
Deaz Mr. Plage:
' I am recommending that the following site be excluded from a Preble's jumping mouse
trapping survey. The project area is the Cooley Gravel site. The property is located in unincorporated
Adams Counry, adjacent to 104th Street between Commerce City and Thornton. I am including photos
of riparian sites, all of which are located along the South Platte River. After your review of these
materials, please inform me regarding your acceptance or rejection of my habitat evaluation, and also
' the client at the following address.
Jamie Wilkins
' CAMAS Colorado, Inc.
3605 South Teller St.,
Lakewood, Co. 80235
' (303) 716-5304
' Rationale for excluding the site as potential Preble'sjpmoine mouse habitat
The only significant riparian areas on this property are confined to the shoreline of the South
Platte River. Representative photographs of habitat types along the river are shown as Figures I
through 3. Also, there are a few moist sites away from the river that support mesic plant species,
however, these are weedy and have a history of heavy grazing (Fig. 4). The property, in my opinion,
does not contain any potential Preble's jumping mouse habitat.
' [f you require additional information regarding this project site, please feel free to call.
' Sincerely, /
1 ~~ ~~`~,
Robert E.
