~,c G~, b, f- L <br />-z- <br />The site, when being reclaimed, should have all slopes smoothed to a 3:1 <br />or flatter slope, to increase the potential re-establishment of vegetation. <br />After smoothing, the topsoil should be spread to a depth of one foot. <br />Following is a seeding mixture recommended for the site based upon a post-mining <br />use of livestock grazing: <br />SPECIES VARIETY <br />Crested Wheatgrass Nordan <br />Intermediate Wheatgrass Amur <br />Big Bluegrass Sherman <br />POUNDS aPLS/ACRE <br />2.0 <br />7.5 <br />1.0 <br />10.5 Pounds *PLS/Acre <br />~(PLS - Pure Live Seed) <br />The area should be seeded in the fall (September 15 to October 15). The above <br />rate is for seed which is drilled. If the seed is to be broadcasted and harrowed, <br />the above rates must be doubled. The seed should be drilled at a depth of } inch. <br />The potential for stand establishment will be improved if the area is mulched <br />after drilling with 3,000 pounds of straw per acre. If mulch is used, it must <br />be crimped into the soil by use of a disc, pulled with no angle set, to prevent <br />being lost by wind. <br />
