Mapping Unit 2NE
• Unnamed-Cochetopa complex
These moderately deep and deep soils are on strongly sloping to moderately
steep mountain sideslopes, and have slopes of 12 to 25 percent. These
soils formed in material weathered from sandstone and shale and are
common over wide areas south of Fish Creek. Native vegetation is sagebrush
with some cropland. Unnamed (2NE) loans make up about 50 percent of
this unit, and Cochetopa (SOC) makes up about 35 percent. Small areas
of Splitro (46E) soils and Rock Outcrop (99) are included in this unit.
Typically, the Unnamed (2NE) soil has a dark grayish brown loam surface
layer about 19 inches thick. The subsoil is yellowish brown heavy clay
• loam about 19 inches thick overlying fractured hard sandstone.
Permeability of the Unnamed (2NE) soil is slow. Available water capacity
is moderate. Surface runoff is medium and erosion hazard is high from
water.

-2-
l
