Mapping Unit X10
• Abor-Moyerson silty clay loam complex
These shallow and moderately deep, well-drained soils are on moderately
steep hillsides. The only tract of this complex encountered on the
permit area is found on the south end of Lease tract 20900 at Mine 2.
Native vegetation is largely sagebrush. The Abor (4) soil makes up
about 55 percent and the Moyerson soil makes up about 35 percent of this
complex. Small areas of Bulkley silty clay loam (l0E) are included in
this unit. Also included are small areas with stones on the surface.
Typically the Abor soil has a brown silty clay loam surface layer about
10 inches thick. The subsoil is pale brown silty clay loam about 10
inches thick. The substratum is pale brown silty clay about 8 inches
thick and overlies partially weathered shale at a depth of 28 inches.
Permeability of the Abor soil is very slow. Available water capacity is
low. Effective rooting depth is 20 to 40 inches. Surface runoff is
rapid and erosion hazard is high from water.
Typically the Moyerson soil has a light brownish gray silty clay loam
surface layer about 2 inches thick. The lower part of the surface layer
is light brownish gray silty clay loam about 2 inches thick. The under-
lying material is highly weathered shale material about 9 inches thick
and overlies shale at a depth of 13 inches.

-25-
