Fertilizer:
A soil test should be made to determine the proper
amounts of fertilizer to apply. Fertilizer should be
applied immediatly prior to seeding, at the time of seeding,
or immediately following seeding, as applicable to the kind
of fertilizer and type of equipment used.
Seeding:
Seeding will be done shortly after the topsoil is
applied to prevent excess weed growth and loss of soil by
erosion. Seed will be planted with a drill designed to
plant grass seed. The area will be seeded sometime between
the 1st of November and May 31st.
Mulching:
Mulch will consist of hay or straw, free of noxious
weed seed, applied at the rate of 4,000 pounds per acre. At
least 508 of the material should be 10 inches or more in
length. The mulch can be anchored by a disc plow with its
discs set straight or a crimping machine. The mulch should
be crimped 4 inches into the soil.
Protection:
The area will be protected from grazing and disturbance
until it is stabilized. Vegitation should not be burned or
mowed.
