The affected land is located in the City of <br />Lakewood immediately south of Alameda Parkway and approximately a <br />- half mile east of Rooney Road. Access is presently from Alameda <br />Parkway. <br />History. The original lease for the Chieftain Mine was <br />executed July 1, 1939. Other areas were added through additional <br />leases in 1947 and 1952. In 1952 the total leased property <br />was 1420 acres. Some areas were deleted from the original lease <br />between the years 1952 and 1959, leaving 1328.8+/- acres under <br />active lease to Robco until May 1983. <br />In May 1983 negotiations were completed with several <br />landowners, including the City of Lakewood, which resulted in a major <br />change in the leased area. Figure 1 shows the current boundaries <br />of the Chieftain Kline. Approximately 569 acres are owned or <br />leased by Robco at the present time. Figure 1 outlines the <br />boundaries of ownership end/or leases. <br />Although the Chieftain Aline comprises more mineable acres <br />than ere described in this application, <br />only lands within the boundaries of the <br />highlighted in Figure 1. <br />Current Conditions. hlap Exhibit C <br />the affected land, touching landowners, <br />factors and existing facilities.
