Durinq this visit we
walked the site and checked the wetland area map prepared by our firm.
Our checking of the map involved plant identification, topography, and
soils. Based on that work, several parts of the map were revised. The
revised map is enclosed with this letter. Please confirm in a letter to us
that the revised map is a correct representation of our discussions and
decisions in the field regarding wetland delineation.
While in the field we also outlined for you our mining plan. The pit will
be mined wet to the side slopes of 3:1. There will be no backfilling of
side slopes. All stockpiling, whether temporary or permanent will be
located outside of wetland areas.
We will cross the Lupton Bottoms Ditch and the adjacent wetland with a
conveyor. This conveyor will be placed on concrete road barriers and there
will be no filling of the wetlands for the conveyor construction.
In the same letter as mentioned above, please indicate your opinion as to
the need for a Section 404 permit under the Clean Water Act.
Please call if you have any questions.
Cordially,
TUTTLE APPLEGATE, INC.
Gar Tuttle
GJT/cr
Enc.
cc: File #90-140WC
Sprague Mayger, Asphalt Paving Co.
Lanelle Curry, Weld County Planning
Dan Hernandez, Mined Land Reclamation Division
