MINED LAND WILDLIFE STATEMENT/EVALUATION (Revise <br />For Limited Impact and Select Regular Mine Applications <br />The following information pertaining to wildlife is provided for use by Mined Land <br />Reclamation Board in their consideration of a mining permit for: <br />Mesa Pit/(Yavel/N[+P4 SW; Sec. 17, N~ SFs':, SW; SF}; Sec. 18, T6N, R87W <br />Name/Type and Location of Mine (Legal) <br />Wildlife Species list: <br />Mule deer Bobcat White-tailed jackrakabit Golden eagle Passerine <br />Elk Badger Nuttalls cottontail Kestrel birds <br />Coyote Striped skunk Red fox Red-tailed hawk <br />Endangered/critical s ecies/impacted: <br />The site is located in the migratory wrridor of the sandhill crane. Although the <br />cranes often stage briefly in the fields near Hayden, no adverse impacts are anticipated <br />from this operation. <br />Critical habitats/vegetative communities impacted: <br />No critical habitats will be impacted. Current land use is agricultural wheat <br />fields. <br />Assessment of impact: <br />With proper reclamation no irreversible adverse impacts are anticipated. The <br />reclamation as planned, adequately addresses wildlife concerns at this time. <br />Mine Reclamation recommendations (include key species/habitats for which restoration <br />is designed). <br />(1) Reclamation should be acocmplished immediately following each ,,,;n;nq phase. <br />(2) Rwid disturbance to the wetland areas. <br />(3) The sediment pond if left could provide habitat for waterfowl and other passerine <br />birds. <br />(4) Revegetation around the sediment pond and northeast ~rner of the pit should be <br />done with native shrubs and grasses to enhance wildlife habitat. <br />(5) Cottonwood trees should be planted as indicated by the plan. <br />Prepared by: <br />Date: <br />Submitted by: Michael R.
