historic sites for the National Register. The Office of the State Archae-
ologist was most helpful and cooperated fully in this effort.
(b) Literature Seazch
The literature search consisted of reviewing published data pertaining
to prehistoric and historic cultural resources of the region. The Hureau of
Land Management (HLM) was contacted to determine if any Environmental Impact
Statements (EIS) had been prepared for the region. The pertinent EIS was
reviewed to assess its impact on the area under investigation (Green River
Hams Fork, Parts 1 and 2) .
(c) Field Survey
The field survey consisted of walking the entire azea shown in Figure 2.
• The findings of the investigations are described in the following sec-
tions.
9.0 SURVEY FINDINGS
4.1 File Search Data
The file search from the Office of the State Archaeologist showed that
no sites of archaeological importance had been recorded previously in the
area being surveyed. Additionally, the same type of result was ascertained
after conducting a computer search in the same office (Appendix H).
4.2 Literature Search Data
The most pertinent EIS is the Green River Hams Fork draft report, dated
April, 1980. This EIS indicated that the Grassy Creek area has very low
potential of containing prehistoric or historic sites. This was confirmed
by a direct communication with the regional office of the BLM in Craig, Colo-
rado. This office advised Kalia Archaeological Services that no sites have
been recorded in the area under investigation.
•
II.B-10
