Type of Undertaking: Placement of a coal refuse wastepile and construction of a sedimentation pond and
access roads
11. Size of Undertaking (acres): 7.8 acres Size of Project (iI' different): 17.3 acres
12. NatureofAnticipatedDisturbance:Theplacementofacoalpileandconstructionofasedimentationpond
at its base will result in a re-contouring of the existing slope in an area approximately 4.0 acres in size.
Construction of the access roads entails cut-and-fill across steep slopes and will disturb corridors
approximately 50 feet wide.
13. Comments: Project included an irregular 17.3 acre block encompassing all of the proposed facilities.
However, a 1.0 acre area at the east end of the block (along a portion of proposed access road) was not
inventoried because it has experienced total distwbance. 1n addition, a 1.9 acre area at the west end of the
project area was not systematically inventoried because it lies on a slope in excess of 30'. As a result, 14.4
acres was inventoried: Much of this azea was also quite steep and/or covered with dense oak brush.
